What the website records
The site records aggregate product events such as a coupon reveal, copy, outbound click, search term, or issue report. These events help rank useful offers and surface broken ones. The application does not intentionally store your IP address, name, shopping cart, order details, or payment information in its coupon database.
Public page-view tracking records only the page path, referring hostname, optional campaign source, and a broad source label such as Direct, Google, Bing, ChatGPT, Grok, or Other. Gil Coupons does not set an analytics cookie or create a persistent visitor ID for this tracking.
Extension onboarding counts
When the Gil Coupons extension opens its first-install welcome page, it sends one aggregate welcome viewed event. If you select the create-account button on that page, it sends one aggregate signup button selected event. Each request contains only the event name. It does not contain an installation identifier, browser history, merchant page URL, coupon activity, cart details, account information, or payment information.
The application stores only the event type and timestamp for these onboarding counts. The hosting and security platform still processes ordinary network request data to deliver and protect the endpoint, as described below.
Coupon ratings use a random browser token to prevent the same device from rating one offer repeatedly. Abuse controls may also store a short, daily-rotating one-way fingerprint derived at the hosting edge. The raw network address is not stored, and the fingerprint is not tied to an account or used as a cross-site advertising identifier.
Extension store matching and page access
When you open Gil Coupons from the Chrome toolbar on an HTTPS page, Chrome gives the extension temporary access to that active tab. The extension reads the page's hostname locally and compares it with the current Gil Coupons catalog. If the hostname matches a listed store, the extension loads its packaged coupon helper into that page. The access is not a persistent browsing permission and ends when you navigate to a different site or close the tab.
The general catalog request does not include the merchant page URL, cart contents, coupon activity, checkout total, or savings amount. On SHEIN, the extension separately requests the current US ranked coupon list; that request also omits the page URL, cart, and checkout data. Coupon controls, bounded merchant feedback, and a visible checkout total are processed locally only to provide the coupon-testing feature. The APIs supply store and offer data, never executable extension code.
Automatic checkout alerts are optional. If you enable them, Chrome asks once for HTTPS website access. The packaged extension helper can then compare the current hostname with the Gil Coupons catalog locally. On websites that are not in the catalog, it stops without inspecting checkout content. On a catalog-listed store, it may inspect the page path and visible coupon controls to determine whether a checkout with codes is available and open the on-page Gil Coupons panel. It never starts testing codes automatically.
Non-catalog hostnames and page paths used by automatic alerts are not sent to Gil Coupons or retained as browsing history. You can decline the optional permission and continue using manual one-click mode, or turn automatic alerts off later.
Accounts and submissions
Gil Coupons member accounts use an email address, display name, and password. Passwords are stored as salted one-way hashes. Your account record connects that identity to store and coupon submissions, their review status, and any admin feedback.
A submission can include store names, domains, promotion links, coupon codes, terms, expiry dates, descriptions, and optional notes. Do not submit private checkout, payment, order, or customer information.
Saved offers
Saved coupons are kept in your browser's local storage. They are not synced to an account or uploaded to Gil Coupons.
External stores
When you choose “Shop deal” or visit a merchant, you leave Gil Coupons. That merchant's privacy policy and data practices apply. Outbound links can include ordinary campaign or affiliate parameters.
Hosting and security
The hosting and security platform necessarily processes request data such as IP address, user agent, and security cookies to deliver the site, prevent abuse, and diagnose failures. That infrastructure data is separate from the Gil Coupons catalog and analytics tables.
Administration
The private owner dashboard uses separate allowlisted owner authentication. Administrative actions are recorded in an audit log with the authorized account email.
Retention and contact
Operational events, account submissions, review decisions, and audit history are retained only as long as useful for verification, security, abuse prevention, and product reporting. Contact support@gilcoupons.com to request help with your account or submissions. Do not send payment or order details.
